In the Presence of the First Temples
A Sacred Journey Through Ancient Anatolia
There are places on Earth where time seems to pause.
Where stone remembers prayer.
Where humanity first lifted its eyes toward the heavens.
In the heart of Southeast Anatolia, beneath vast skies and timeless hills, lie the world’s oldest known temples — silent witnesses to the birth of consciousness itself.
This is more than a journey through history.
It is a profoundly cultural and spiritual return —
back to our very roots,
back to ourselves,
back to the origins of the soul,
and even the spirit.
We invite you to walk with us into this sacred landscape.

Itinery Our Tas Tepeler team is proud of our insider contacts, our relaxed itinerary, and the option to stay longer in one place if you wish. We can even incorporate multiple visits to one place into our relaxed schedule. It is as much an exclusive, insider’s, culture journey and spiritual awakening. |
Day 5 — Emerging Temples: The Living Past We visit newly discovered sites — Sayburç Tepe, Çakmaktepe & Mendik Tepe, and ongoing excavations. Here, history is still being revealed. Each stone lifted is a message from twelve thousand years ago. We witness the past awakening. |
|
Day 1 — Arrival: The City of the Prophets We gather in Şanlıurfa, long revered as the City of the Prophets. Here, where Abraham and Job once walked, we settle into a restored Ottoman home. As evening falls, we share our first meal together — strangers becoming companions — and open the circle of our journey. |
Day 6 — Harran, Sögmata & Mount Nemrut: Pathways of Kings and Prophets We travel through Harran and Sögmata, lands of the ancient Gods and Goddessed of the East, scholars, mystics, and nomads. By afternoon, we ascend Mount Nemrut, crowned with colossal stone guardians. As the sun descends, light and shadow perform an ancient ceremony — one that has repeated itself for millennia. |
|
Day 2 — Göbekli Tepe: Where Humanity First Prayed At dawn, we journey to Göbekli Tepe — the oldest known temple on Earth. Older than Stonehenge. Older than the pyramids. Older than writing itself. We move slowly among the carved pillars, allowing silence and wonder to speak. In the afternoon, the Archaeological Museum reveals fragments of this unfolding story. |
Day 7 — Gaziantep: The Art of Civilization We journey to Gaziantep, home to the largest mosaic museum in the world. Within its halls, thousands of finely placed stones form stories of gods, heroes, lovers, and everyday life — voices from Roman and Hellenistic times preserved in color and light. Here, we witness how human creativity evolved from sacred stone circles to intricate works of art — a continuous thread of spirit and imagination. We return enriched by beauty and perspective. |
|
Day 3 — Karahan Tepe: The Language of Stone Beyond the familiar paths lies Karahan Tepe — a sanctuary still whispering its secrets. Here, stone faces emerge from the earth, and ancient symbols watch us quietly. We listen. We reflect. We remember. |
Day 8 — Living Faith: Abraham, Job & the Bazaar We walk to the sacred pools of Abraham, visit the Cave of his birth, and honor the patience of Job. In the bustling marketplace, ancient traditions live on — spices, copper, cloth, and laughter. Spirit and life intertwine. |
|
Day 4 — The Euphrates: Sacred Waters We follow the ancient roads to the Euphrates River, cradle of civilizations. By its flowing waters, we rest, breathe, and reconnect with the rhythms that once shaped humanity. Later, we return for tea beneath the trees of Şanlıurfa, on the edge of the sacred fish pond: the reknown and revered Balikligöl — simple moments, deeply felt. |
Day 9 — Farewell: Carrying the Journey Home We gather one last time. Stories are shared. Silence is honored. Gratitude is spoken.
We depart not only with photographs, but with something deeper — a renewed connection to our origins, to our shared humanity, and to the quiet voice within.

**This Is less a Tour and more a Pilgrimage.**
This is a journey back to the beginning —
to the first temples,
the first prayers,
the first questions humanity ever asked.
And in returning to those beginnings,
we return to ourselves.
For those who seek:
• Depth over speed
• Presence over consumption
• Meaning over monuments
For those who feel called by timeless monuments.
